Safety Guidelines

Boundaries for safer service during the coordinator-mediated pilot.

Central Maryland pilot notice: These pages describe current working expectations for the pilot. They should be reviewed by appropriate ministry leadership and legal counsel before broader public reliance.

Not for emergencies

  • If there is immediate danger, call 911 or the appropriate emergency or crisis service.
  • Conduit for Christ should not be used for urgent medical care, mental-health crisis intervention, domestic-violence mediation, or active dangerous situations.
  • Submitting a form or report through the platform is not a promise of immediate response.
  • Moderators may refer sensitive or crisis needs to qualified organizations instead of publishing them as ordinary opportunities.

Controlled matching

  • Volunteers do not receive exact addresses or private contact information simply by expressing interest.
  • A moderator or approved coordinator should approve the match before private logistics are shared.
  • Sensitive service situations may require additional screening, organization supervision, teams of two or more, or referral elsewhere.
  • Approved assignments should share only the information needed to complete the specific service safely.

Service boundaries

  • Do not perform licensed electrical, plumbing, medical, legal, counseling, or major construction work unless properly qualified and explicitly approved through the right organization process.
  • Avoid entering unsafe environments. Leave immediately and contact a coordinator if a situation feels unsafe.
  • Do not transport children, provide unsupervised childcare, handle weapons, or handle controlled substances through ordinary volunteer opportunities.
  • Report changed circumstances, unsafe conditions, or requests that expand beyond the approved assignment.
