Request Eligibility

What kinds of needs fit the first Central Maryland pilot.

Central Maryland pilot notice: These pages describe current working expectations for the pilot. They should be reviewed by appropriate ministry leadership and legal counsel before broader public reliance.

Good pilot-fit requests

  • Food and essential-item assistance or delivery.
  • Moving, lifting, lawn care, exterior property help, and basic non-licensed household assistance.
  • Adult transportation, community or ministry event volunteers, clothing, furniture, household goods, prayer, relational follow-up, and resource referrals.
  • Requests generally located near Pasadena, Columbia, Ellicott City, Laurel, Catonsville, or nearby Central Maryland communities.
  • Requests with enough detail for coordinators to evaluate scope, timing, safety, and likely volunteer fit.

Requests that may be declined or referred

  • Direct cash, loans, emergency housing, medical treatment, legal matters, major repairs, crisis intervention, or licensed professional work.
  • Requests involving child transportation, unsupervised childcare, overnight stays, dangerous environments, weapons, controlled substances, or domestic-violence mediation.
  • Requests outside the current pilot region unless a coordinator identifies an appropriate partner or resource.
  • Requests that are deceptive, unsafe, coercive, exploitative, or too broad for practical volunteer coordination.

Review process

  • Submitted needs are reviewed before becoming public opportunities.
  • Coordinators may request clarification, narrow the request, refer it elsewhere, or decline it if it is outside the pilot scope.
  • Public opportunity listings show general information only; exact addresses and private contact details stay protected.
  • Approval for publication does not guarantee that a volunteer will be available or that every part of a request can be completed.
